This year has brought us some very exciting racing! On the women’s side, we started the year with nearly a completely new squad. With only 4 returners, they’ve done a fantastic job to get 3 boats out for summer eights and to have 2 of them qualify! It was a tough year results wise, as W1 went -4 and W2 went -3. However, things are looking up, as they will hit the ground running next year with a significantly more experienced squad! Keep an eye on them, they’ll be on blades watch for the next 2 years!

The men have learnt 3 things this year:

1.Put the blade in

2.Actually push the footplate away

3.Do this in time, with good rhythm

This has led to fantastic success in summer eights. The M1 bumped Wadham on day 1, rowed over on day 2, bumped Teddies on day 3, and had quite possibly the best end you could ask for, bumping Balliol on Saturday! This brings them up to 9th on the river and +3 over the campaign. The M2 sadly did not qualify, however, there are plenty of novices who are ready to challenge for the M1 next year, so expect the good run of form to continue!
